On Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 3:30 - 5:30PM, Former State Representative Ron Waters and Samuel Staten Jr., along with the Laborers District Council LECET and Health & Safety funds held a meet and greet children of incarcerated fathers by bringing the spirit of giving and holiday joy to each family of the Fathers And Children Together (FACT) Program. This event took place at Laborers Local #332, located at 1310 Wallace Street.

“Often unions are portrayed in a bad light”, said Staten. “It is the responsibility of the Laborers' District Council of Philadelphia and Vicinity (The People's Union) to set the story straight!”

Every year the Laborers' District Council LECET fund afford all four local unions (local 57, 135, 332 & 413) from the 5 county areas a "Laborers' Giving Back" event, in the form of either giveaways or donations to a charity of their choice. The FACT program was created by former State Representative Ron Waters, Business Manager Samuel Staten Jr. and Lifers out of Graterford Prison, to reconnect fathers to their children. The children and their families appreciate FACT’s efforts, especially getting to see their fathers more. The FACT program provides them with transportation to and from the prison. Reports have shown that some children behavior have changed for the better, and grades have elevated since this reconnection program began.
